My name is Jenn Falls. I grew up in North Carolina, so I consider myself a Southern girl. I’ve been privileged enough to live all over the United States and overseas through my husband’s job with the Navy, which broadens my world view. I worked hard to become a teacher and then to earn my MA in English. While I won’t ever close the door on teaching, it’s time to open the door of possibilities to writing the novels that have been swimming in my head for years.
My main focus in writing is in the sci-fi and fantasy genres. My current “Works In Progress” are in contemporary urban fantasy for adults, although I intend to also publish in middle-grade and young adult levels. I guess I write what I mainly read. My biggest influences include J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Douglas Adams, Neil Gaiman, Ursula K. Le Guin, and Joss Whedon (I know the last is not an author, but he truly is an inspiration).
Other interests include reading books (I love critiquing when they are made into films), playing piano (since I was 3), and being gaga for all things zombies. I like participating in a writing community both in person and online. Find me on Twitter @jrfalls and on Facebook.

Post a commentInteresting, I’m certified to teach high school English but I never got as far as actually getting a job (I finished certification just as all the layoffs started two years ago). But not finding a job made me FINALLY start writing the novel I’ve wanted to write for years. And I couldn’t be happier.
I still think about going back to teaching hs English, but not while No Child Left Behind exists.
🙂
Hmmm, I’m rather liking what you’ve written here. I think I’ll follow this blog that you have here. Though after seeing your “about section” it makes me wonder if I need to flesh out my own.
Thank you. This blog has undergone changes over time. I learned how to use the functions of the blog to give it the best look possible for now. You’ll find what you want for your own blog with time. Good luck!
You wouldn’t happen to be willing to offer advice and such for my own blog?
